Same walls.
A different life.

This is where most of our projects begin: grey plaster, a bare bulb, and a lot of possibility. Keep scrolling.

How we work

Beautiful is the easy part.

Anyone can make a mood board look good. The hard part is a home that is finished on time, costs what you were told, and still feels special a year later. That is the work.

A budget you set.

We design to your number, not around it. Before work starts you see an itemised estimate, room by room.

A timeline you can plan around.

You get a schedule in weeks at the start, and updates as work moves on site.

Every corner considered.

The awkward niche, the passage nobody uses, the wall behind the door. Each one gets a job, a light, or something worth looking at.

The studio

The N in the story.

The Beige N Story is named for two things. Beige, the warm, quiet palette I keep coming back to. And N, for Niharika. The story is the part that belongs to you.

For more than ten years I have been designing homes in Jaipur and beyond. I start every project the same way: by asking how you live. Who cooks. Where the sun comes in at four o'clock. Which chair your father will never give up. The design starts there, and it stays practical all the way through, because a home has to work on a Tuesday morning, not just in photographs.

I'm easy to talk to, and I'll tell you honestly what's worth spending on.

The process

Four steps, no guesswork.

  1. A sketchbook with a hand-drawn floor plan, a measuring tape and two glasses of chai
    01

    Conversation

We meet at your home or the studio. I listen, measure and ask a lot of questions. You leave with a clear sense of what's possible for your budget.

  2. A material board with marble, walnut veneer, cane webbing and block-printed fabric swatches
    02

    Concept

Layouts, a material palette and 3D visuals, so you can see the room before anything is built.

  3. Printed working drawings of a wardrobe and TV wall with a scale ruler
    03

    Detail and estimate

Working drawings, an itemised cost and a schedule. Nothing starts until you're happy with all three.

  4. A finished entrance foyer with house keys in a brass bowl on a walnut console
    04

    Build and handover

Site supervision, regular updates, and a final styling day. You walk into a finished home.

Questions

Before you ask.

Do you only work in Jaipur?

No. The studio is in Jaipur and we design homes across India. Outside Jaipur we work through video calls, detailed drawings and planned site visits.

What does the first consultation cost?

To be confirmed by the studio.

What budget do I need?

Tell us your number and we'll tell you honestly what it can do. We work with a wide range of budgets for flats and villas; the consultation is where we match the scope to the spend.

How long does a full home take?

It depends on size and how much carpentry is involved. You get a week-by-week schedule before anything starts. Typical range to be added.

Can you do just one room?

Yes. A single bedroom, a kitchen or a living room is a good place to start.

Do you also handle execution, or only design?

To be confirmed by the studio.

Are the images on this site real projects?

They are design concepts: visualisations of the kind of homes we create. Photographs of completed homes will be added as they're handed over.
